Build & Replenish Your Chi During Fall & Winter Seasons

This week I started getting my herbal remedies ready for the fall and winter seasons. During the upcoming few months before Spring rolls around again, we need to slow down our mind, body and spirit to let it re-build and re-generate itself. Just like how animals hibernate during winter, we should also learn from them and refrain from exuberating anymore energy and chi as possible. This way, we can live a long, healthier, peaceful and mindful life.
Just like herbal teas that are enjoyed in the US and around the country for their health benefits. In Asian countries, there are also some herbs and berries that are a household stable for brewing teas and making a delicious pot of soup with. The tea that I drink alot is called "Chi Generation" herbal tea. It's brewed with just 3 ingredients: Jujube fruit, Goji berry and Astragalus Root and I always try to purchase organic ingredients as much as possible.
Jujube fruits resembles a date and when dried, its color can range from red to dark brown. The actual fruit is consumed fresh and the rest is sun dried to keep for longer periods of time. Both the fruit and the seeds of the jujube fruit are rich in flavonoids, saponins and polysaccharides, which are suppose to help with insomnia and to get a more restful sleep. It's also rich in vitamin c, iron, calcium and phosphorous and can help regulate blood pressure, blood circulation and improves muscle strength.
Goji berries have come to be more wide known within the last few years and touted for its health benefits backed by scientific research. Goji berries have been used for over 2,000 years in Asian countries as a medicinal herb and are more widely seen on shelves of speciality stores here in the U.S. Goji berries can help protect our eyes from UV light, free radicals and oxidative stress as it contain high levels of antioxidants, especially zeaxanthin. With their high levels of vitamins A, C, antioxidants and beta-carotene, goji berries can help build our immune system during flu season and promote healthy skin renewal.
Astragalus root is well used in Chinese Herbal Medicines for centuries. It's main use was to boost the immune system, but after more research was conducted, it actually also help promote health wellness. Astragalus root stimulates the spleen, liver, lungs, circulatory, and urinary system. It's also used to treat osteoarthritis, asthma, and nervous conditions as well as to lower blood sugar and blood pressure. As with any herbal supplement, always check with your health care provider before taking astragalus root.

After steeping the herbs in boiling water for about 15-20 minutes, I would drink this 2-3 times a week. I don't usually add any sweeteners as the naturally sweet and tartness from the Goji berries are flavor for me. But if you find the taste to be more herbal, you can add in some honey or brown sugar. The more you consume this tea, the more you will feel more energized during the day and more restful during the night. Here's to our health!
